Multitudes
Artist Statement: MULTITUDES
The body holds everything – desire, fatigue, intimacy, exposure, strength, and the evidence of
having lived. These photographs gather moments where a woman is simply inside her body,
shaped by time, experience, sexuality, care, and relationship. The figures are not presented as
fixed identities, but as shifting selves that overlap and coexist across different phases of life.
What remains visible on the surface- gesture, posture, touch, stillness- becomes a record of
being alive. Together, the work reflects the shared experience of moving through life in a body
that is always changing, and always carrying multiple selves at once. This grouping was initiated by an invitation to show with three other artists at Yellow Studio. It is a pivotal moment for me as I realized how much work I have made over the last 15 or so years and forced me to find the “art” in everyday moments working with a digital camera interacting with friends and family in my personal world. This series is short however, folds into what I was curating for my Arkansas Exhibition just months later without the ability to produce new photographs for. I am currently keeping the title Invictus and going back over these years of marriage, motherhood, divorce, separate homes, and moments of significance between me and my children and close friends.
